Help Bring Geshe Dekyong to IBC

We are delighted to announce the selection of the next resident Geshe for the Indiana Buddhist Center, Geshe Tenzin Dekyong.
He already has a strong connection with our center, as he is from the same state in India as was our founder, the beloved Geshe Jinpa Sonam. Specifically, they were both from Zanskar and Geshe Dekyong’s village is only 20km from Geshe Jinpa Sonam’s home village. You can read more of Geshe Dekyong’s biography.
The Drepung Gomang Ngari Khangtsen, who kindly provide guidance and teachers for the Indiana Buddhist Center, have asked Geshe Dekyong to serve a two year term as teacher at IBC and he has graciously agreed.
Getting him here isn't cheap, however. We need your help raising $10,000
-
$4000 - Attorney's Fees
-
$3000 - Travel
-
$2700 - Expedited Processing
-
$510 - Visa Application Fee
The current visa processing time with USCIS is a minimum of nine months, and could take much longer than that. In light of this, the Board agreed that the center would be harmed by going so long without a teacher and voted to pay the expedited fee so we can get an approval in as little as fifteen business days, instead of many months.
Although the Indiana Buddhist Center receives enough in donations to cover normal monthly operating expenses, these additional costs fall outside our normal budget.
We need your help raising the $10,000 we estimate it will cost to bring Geshe Dekyong here so that we can continue Geshe Jinpa Sonam’s legacy of providing authentic Dharma in the tradition of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to Central Indiana.
We welcome supporting donations of any size, or sponsorship of any of the expenses detailed above. Donations may be made by check and mailed to the center or online, right here! Your donations support the vision of Geshe Jinpa Sonam to bring authentic Dharma in the tradition of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to Central Indiana.
