Geshe Tenzin Dekyong

Born in Zanskar, Ladakh, India, Geshe Dekyong attended the government school in his village of Muney.

He went to South India to continue his studies at the age of 13 in 1995, when he joined Drepung Gomang Monastery.

At that time, he received his novice vows from the Abbot of Drepung at the time, Drepung Trizur Khensur Rinpoche Tenpa Tenzin.

In 2009 he received his full ordination from His Holiness the XIV Dalai Lama. In 2012, he joined the Drepung Gomang Sacred Arts
Tour, touring here in the United States as well as around the world. He continued in his studies towards his Geshe degree for many years, culminating in his successful completion of the Gelugpa University Examination in 2023 when he received the title of Geshe Lharampa. He then went on to Gyumed Tantric Monastery in Southern India where he continues his studies.

He has kindly agreed to serve an initial 2-year term here at IBC and help further our mission to bring authentic Dharma in the tradition of His Holiness the XIV Dalai Lama to Central Indiana.
